Shaping the future of the integrated bridge
OFFSHORE VESSELS Ships designed for operation in harsh conditions and safety-sensitive environments, such as offshore and platform supply vessels, are equipped with sophisticated integrated bridge systems (IBS). These bridges are built in accordance with the highest class notations, which list specific requirements regarding ergonomic bridge layout, redundancy and navigational function with a focus on operational reliability and safety, writes Philip Kankelfitz, offshore segment manager at the navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz.
