Electric SOVs to decarbonise offshore wind farms
A study undertaken by ScottishPower Renewables and Stillstrom, a cleantech business subsidiary of the Maersk Group, has confirmed the feasibility of servicing offshore wind farms with electric service operation vessels (SOVs) charged with green electricity at the site. The SOVs would be able to stay on station at sea for extended period, raising efficiency and, of course, reducing emissions from transits to zero.
