Spot rates for LNG carriers have plunged despite the Red Sea crisis and winter in Europe. By the end of January, rates had crashed from USD 200,000 a day in November to around USD 40,000 even though LNG owners had chosen to send their vessels around the Cape of Good Hope, rather than run the risk of the Red Sea and a Suez transit. In normal times, between 15 and 20 LNG carriers pass through the Red Sea every week. No ships were taking the route in the final ten days of January, according to reports....
