Research project launched to develop bunker tank retrofits
Rostock’s Meyer Neptun Engineering is to work with the Fraunhofer Institute for Large Structures in Production Engineering Rostock and the Technology Consulting Institute Schwerin on the development of new fuel tanks that can be retrofitted on board existing vessels. The aim of the project, Retrotank, is to equip ships in service today with the right fuel storage systems for new green fuels with low flash points, such as methanol and low-pressure gases including ammonia.
