Sails propel bulk carrier into new league
A project undertaken jointly by Singapore-based Berge Bulk, Bar Technologies of the UK, and Norway’s Yara Marine Technologies, has broken new ground, with double-digit energy savings on the Berge Olympus , a Newcastlemax bulk carrier built in 2018. Following a two-sail installation on a trial vessel in a pilot project, the 210,000dwt Isle of Man-registered Berge Olympus has been retrofitted with four BARTech WindWings.
