Collaboration on green ammonia
Lloyd’s Register (LR) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to undertake joint development of a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) system for green ammonia. The partners envisage that the FPSO will use renewable energy to provide power for the electrolysis of sea water to produce green hydrogen. This will be combined with nitrogen and synthesised to produce green ammonia which will then offloaded to ammonia carriers. It is envisaged that the FPSO will be linked to offshore wind farms in Europe....
