Svitzer orders battery-methanol tug
TRAnsverse design | Turkish shipyard, Uzmar, has been chosen by Svitzer to build what is claimed to be the world’s first battery-methanol tug. It will be based on Svitzer’s TRAnsverse design with a 6-MWHh battery and dual-fuel methanol-powered engines for back-up and range extension. Designed in collaboration with tug specialist, Robert Allan Ltd, the 34.9m-long vessel will have a bollard pull ahead of 85 tonnes, with escort steering and braking forces rated at 150 tonnes and 200 tonnes at 10 knots....
