New deliveries must comply with cable and pipe seals
The first generation of ships that are subject to 2021 class rules on cable transit sealing systems are now in service but some shipowners and shipyards are still not aware of the new rules or their obligations under the International Association of Classification Societies’ requirements. According to Sweden-based Roxtec, a manufacturer of penetration sealing systems for marine applications, this is why the company has developed and launched a digital system to support compliance. Richard Keith, the company’s Marine & Offshore divisional manager, said the IACS regulations apply to all ocean-going vessels commissioned after July 2021, with the first generation of ships to fall within the framework now being delivered....
