More marine energy support required
The UK’s Marine Energy Council (MEC), a trade association representing the country’s tidal stream and wave energy sectors, has called on the new UK Government to ramp up support for these power sectors. Tides and waves, the MEC claims, have the potential to provide more than a third of the country’s total electricity demand. Highly predictable tides offer significant prospects and, according to the MEC, the UK has ‘an unrivalled deployment pipeline’.
