Significant fuel savings available

Juli 2017 | Redaktion

performance monitoring | Pilot tests of Rolls-Royce’s new Energy Management System (EMS) on board two platform supply vessels have demonstrated fuel savings of up to 15%. The latest generation system is based on a more data-driven performance management and decision-making approach which enables monitoring of individual ships as well as entire fleets, Rolls-Royce said. On board the two UT 776 CD offshore vessels belonging to Ålesund-based Golden Energy Offshore, the fuel savings achieved during pilot tests conducted since early 2015 have exceeded expectations. Marco Cristoforo Camporeale, Rolls-Royce’s GM, Intelligent Asset Management, said that Golden Energy Offshore had revealed fuel savings of up to 15% on the two vessels in its fleet of ten ships. Rolls-Royce had been expecting a slightly lower figure of 5-10%, Camporeale said.
