PIPE FITTING There are many kilometres of pipe on ships, in refineries and on gas and oil platforms. In view of these quantities, pipe fitting plays a vital role in plant and pipeline construction; the conduit system must be installed quickly and efficiently. Moreover, these constructions are essential for the function and efficiency of the platforms, ships and plants. In the following, Bert Zorn, managing director of Germany-based Schwarze-Robitec, outlines the challenges of pipe bending in offshore platforms and pipeline construction.
