Ammonia-based HVAC system approved
A new ammonia-based marine heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) system developed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received Approval in Principle (AiP) from ABS. The system has been developed by HHI in response to requests from shipowners for systems using ammonia, a no-carbon refrigerant with zero ozone depletion potential and a Global Warming Potential of zero, as gauged by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
