Resistance calculation for twin marine lifter
MOVING PLATFORMS Computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and Star-CCM+ in particular, can be successfully used for tackling complex phenomena, with useful results and in a reasonable period of time. The results indicate a periodic pattern of the flow. The flow around the additional buoyancy elements is dominated by vortex generation due to the presence of these elements, and this influences the resistance value for each individual buoyancy element and the ship.
