Case study compares LNG with scrubber retrofit
REDUCING SULPHUR LEVEL According to the upcoming IMO MARPOL Annex VI sulphur regulations, all vessels sailing in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) must reduce the sulphur level in fuel oil to 0.1% or clean the exhaust gas to an equivalent level by 2015. Green Ship of the Future, a private-public initiative of Danish maritime companies, has done a study comparing various abatement technologies aimed at fulfilling the IMO requirement.
