Hybrid-powered expedition ship launched

Hurtigruten | The Roald Amundsen , one of two hybrid-powered polar-class newbuildings for expedition cruise operator Hurtigruten has been launched in a ceremony at building yard Kleven in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The vessel will join the fleet this summer, while its sister ship, Fridtjof Nansen will be handed over in July 2019. Both vessels will be using a new and sustainable hybrid technology, delivered from Rolls-Royce, making fully electric propulsion on a passenger ship possible. They will be 140m long, 23.6m...
